Our History

Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home was founded in 1935 as the Holmes Funeral Home.

Harold Holmes opened the original funeral home at 316 S. Broadway, across the street from our current location until the Holmes family built their home at 303 S. Broadway in Riley. Harold lived in & operated the funeral home until 1957, when Ed & Mildred Pfeifley purchased the business.

Ed & Millie raised their three sons in the same building where they operated the business. In the 1970’s, an addition to the chapel was completed to add more seating. We can comfortably seat 200 people.

In 1980, their son, Phil Pfeifley purchased the business from his parents. Another addition was done in the early 1990’s to add a formal entry and restroom. At that time, the funeral home became Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Jarred & Jenny Anderes purchased the funeral home in 2013 and it became Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.  We are proud to keep the tradition of a true family owned & operated funeral home. We understand that each family is unique and we strive to accommodate those personal needs and traditions.
