Obituary of Ronald L. Sweany

Ronald L. Sweany, 86, of Topeka, died Thursday, September 29, 2016. He was born September 28, 1930, in Green, Kansas, the son of Walter and Myrtle (Rickson) Sweany. He graduated from Green Rural High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Goodyear after 37 years of service. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #8746, American Legion Post #1, Goodyear Leisure Club and Moose Lodge #555. Ronald married Erma Alexander on December 16, 1950 in Salina, Kansas. She survives. In addition to his wife, other survivors include their children: Scott (Tomi) Sweany, Perry, KS and Sheryl (Jim) Sweeney, Chandler, AZ; four grandchildren: Ryan (Bobbie) Sweany, Jamie (Dave) Stormer, Erin and Dublin Sweeney; seven great-grandchildren: Austin, R.J. and Kristal Sweany, Logan, Colton and Kailey Jo Stormer and Callan Weathers and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a sister and brother and his parents. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Green Fancy Creek Cemetery, north of Green. A memorial has been established for the Green Fancy Creek Cemetery. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
