Obituary of Lee Gaynier

Lee Gaynier, 96, of Clay Center, formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away Sunday Dec. 10, 2017 at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

Lee was born Feb. 28, 1921 in Mesquite, Texas the daughter of Roy Daniel and Tahmeroo (Corley) Wagoner. She was married Jan. 9, 1945 to William Moses (Bill) Gaynier at Camp Hood in Kileen, Texas. He preceded her in death. Lee and Bill met while he was recovering from an injury. She was a nurse in the U.S. Army. Both were Second Lieutenants. Lee and Bill made their home in Dallas, Texas. 

Besides her husband Bill, Lee was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by her daughters Kathy Martin and husband Max of Clay Center, Kansas, Tammy Steeples and husband Don of Palco, Kansas, and Martha Coe and husband Rick of Oklahoma City, and her sons Dr. W. Mike Gaynier and wife Vickie of Greendale, Indiana, and Don Gaynier and wife Tracey of Flint, Texas. She was blessed to have 14 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. 

A  funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with Rev. Larry Carr of the Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will also be held at Believers Chapel in Dallas, Texas at a later date. Burial will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas. 

In memory of Lee, donations may be made to the charity of the donors’ choice and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
