Obituary of Connie J. Zimmer

Connie Joan Zimmer, age 83, of Springfield, Missouri and formerly of Waterville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. On April 28, 1931 an angel came to earth. Connie Joan Sutherland was born in Aurora, Nebraska to the proud parents of Connie Hale Sutherland, her father after whom she was named, and her mother Gladys Gertrude. Connie married Donald W. Zimmer on November 16, 1947 in Hallam, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2013. They were married for 66 years. Together they had three children, Marleen, Bruce and David. They worked as a team in many endeavors from shooting competitions, fishing, going to the river cabin as well as running a trash service in Fremont, Nebraska, the Fancy Creek Marina at Tuttle Creek in Randolph, then farming north of Randolph. Connie enjoyed knitting, painting, reupholstering furniture and cooking. She would tackle any project with gusto. Connie is remembered as always having room for any guest at the table, her quick-witted sense of humor and loving kindness. She is survived by her three children, Marleen Friedrich of Springfield, Missouri, Bruce Zimmer and wife Cheryl of Randolph and David Zimmer and wife Shonna of Randolph; six grandchildren, Ryan and wife Rebecca, Kelly Friedrich, Lindsey Zimmer, Chet Zimmer, Devin and wife Crystal and Dylan Zimmer and two great grandchildren, Brhett and Maci Friedrich. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Randolph United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Ferguson and Rev. Deborah A. Hanes-Nelson officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Monday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8 P.M. Monday evening. Burial will be in the Randolph Fancy Creek Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Randolph Senior Center, Swede Creek United Methodist Church and KSDS Assistance Dogs.
