Obituary of Ruby P. Andersen

Our adored Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Ruby Pauline Andersen, who entered eternal life on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Her spirit is carried on by her surviving four children, 21 grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and surviving brothers and sister. We are blessed to have been touched by Ruby's love and generosity during her 86 years. Ruby was born on March 10, 1930 in LaPlace, Illinois, the daughter of Irvin Silas and Bessie Ruth (Alexander) Carter. She was married July 30, 1950, to Lawrence J Andersen. They shared 64 years together. She became a homemaker, where she and her husband purchased their first home in Pekin, Illinois. After 35 years, they moved to Randolph, Kansas, where they would take care of her mother-in-law, Frances, in her home for 8 years. Ruby and her husband lived in their Kansas home for 23 years. Ruby loved living in the small town of Randolph. Ruby also loved to bake and enjoyed her family pets. Her Christmas care packages were filled with fresh baked goods every Christmas. Ruby moved to Dorr, Michigan, in May, 2015, after her husband's passing on February 27, 2015, where she would live with her daughter, surrounded by loving family as she fought her battle with Leukemia. She is survived by her children, James D. Andersen of Peoria, Illinois, Lawrence L. (Marjorie) Andersen of Pekin, Illinois, Patricia (Dan) Pratt of Dorr, Michigan, and Brian (Renay) Andersen of Randolph, Kansas. She is also survived by her brothers, Clyde Carter of Indiana, Carl Carter of Alabama, Lois Long of Illinois and Dennis Carter of Illinois. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ruby is reunited with her beloved husband, Lawrence J Andersen, and is preceded by her son, Timothy I Andersen and grandson, Daniel J Andersen, and siblings, Lester Carter, Loren Carter and Ron Carter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Olsburg Lutheran Church with Rev. Keith Wiens officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the church. Respect calls may be made anytime Friday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. Burial will be in the Olsburg Cemetery. In Ruby's memory contributions may be made to the American Cancer society and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas.
