Obituary of Janice Kirkpatrick
Janice Faye (Fosha) Kirkpatrick age 82 of Denver, Colorado quietly passed away at her home on Thursday, February 25, 2016.
She was born on September 15, 1933, the daughter of Leo and Lena (Renz) Fosha. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1951. Her pre-nursing education was at Kansas State University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She graduated with a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She became the Head Nurse on the Pediatrics Unit at the KU Medical Center that cared for seriously ill children with burns, congenital heart diseases and blood diseases such as leukemia.
It was at the K.U. Medical Center that she met a medical student named Charles (Chuck) Kirkpatrick. They married on July 11, 1959. Janice supported the household while Chuck studied Internal Medicine and Immunology. Together they raised Heather, Michael and Brian. For several years, she also was a home-hospice nurse with the Denver Hospice and was quite skilled at preparing families and patients for acceptance of death. She excelled in four fields; as a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a nurse.
She and Chuck were fortunate in that they were able to travel extensively. She was a long time member of the Faculty Wives, the organization that ran gifts shops in the University of Colorado Hospital and Clinics, the League of Woman Voters, an active gardener and gourmet cook.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck; three children, Heather, Michael and Brian and six grandchildren, Gus, Greta, Alyssa, Caitlyn, Dylan and Kiernan.
