Obituary of Harold Eugene Storer
Harold Eugene Storer, age 67 of Manhattan, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Stormont-Vail in Topeka.
He was born on June 6, 1948 in Salina, the son of Clifton Eric and Gladys Pauline (Woolley) Storer.
On August 16, 1969 at Walsburg Lutheran Church, he was married to Sheri Ann Berggren. She survives of the home.
Harold received his Bachelor’s Degree in Grain Science from Kansas State University and his MBA from the University of Nebraska. He worked for Texas Instruments, purchased raw materials for Frito Lay and J.W. Allen, and was a substitute teacher for middle school math in Plano, Texas ISD for ten years. In 2013, after spending over 30 years in Texas, Harold and Sheri returned to Kansas, the state they loved.
He was an active member of Walsburg Lutheran Church, where he was elected to the church council beginning in February of 2016, read lessons and helped sing liturgy. He was elected as president of the Randolph Senior Center and was a member of the Riley County Senior Service Center. He enjoyed his grandchildren, reading, playing cards, gardening, clocks, cooking, singing, traveling, golfing, K-State sports, grocery shopping, Sudoku puzzles, nature and wildlife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Scott Storer and Kritika of Needham, MA; one daughter, Heather Stevens and Curtis of Fate, TX; two grandchildren, Kai and Wyatt Storer; two granddogs, Ozzie and Lucky; one brother, Robert Storer and Marcia of Solomon; four sisters-in-law, Esther Burglund, Martha Berggren and Scott Hall, Roberta Hartford and Lee and Brenda Schurle and Doug; nieces and nephews, Lacey Storer, Tim Storer, Tammy Storer, Andrew Galloway, Tyler Schurle and Cheyanne Schurle and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Merlin and Terry Storer and one sister, Ann Storer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 15, 2016 at Walsburg Lutheran Church, northeast of Leonardville with Rev. Keith Wiens officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Thursday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday. Burial will be in the Walsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Walsburg Lutheran Church and Randolph Senior Center. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
