Obituary of Ruth V. Hohman
Ruth V. Hohman, age 97 of Clay Center, KS, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center.
She was born on April 4, 1916 in Randolph, KS, the daughter of Richard and Lillie (Axelton) Anderson.
She was married to Russell Hohman on October 24, 1934. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1986.
Ruth was a homemaker and worked at Medford Manor in Clay Center for four years and Leonardville Nursing Home for five years. She was a member of the Clay Center Christian Church, Circle One Club, Leonardville Senior Citizens and Clay Center Leisure Center. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, crocheting, playing pitch and bingo, watching jeopardy and was a Kansas City Royals and KU basketball fan.
She is survived by three sons, Larry Hohman of Sullivan, MO, Don Hohman and wife Marcine of Green and Jerry Hohman and wife Jo Ann of Wakefield; three daughters, Janice Pfeifer of Topeka, Coleen Weller and husband Darrel of Clay Center and Kathy Olson and Buddy Brown of Topeka; 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and three sister in laws, Mona Anderson of Waterville, Ruth Hohman of Randolph and Pat Erickson and husband Jerry of Leonardville.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Russell Leon “Lonnie” Hohman; two brothers, Hubert and Raymond Anderson and one great grandson, Matthew Tilley.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 19, 2013 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. Music was furnished by Deb Huyett, Steve Rundquist and David Rundquist. Pallbearers were Brett Weller, Ryan Olson, Jay Hohman, Jamie Hohman, Jon Rightmeier and Chris Hohman. Burial was in the Grandview Mill Creek Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Ruth V. Hohman Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date.
