Obituary of Dave Schwartz

Dave Schwartz, age 58, of Randolph, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on January 16, 1954, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Jerry and Marlene (Kershaw) Schwartz of Randolph, Kansas. He graduated from Blue Valley USD #384 High School with the Class of 1972. He was a farmer and owned and operated Dave’s Starter and Alternator Repair for many years. He was an active member of the Riley County Rural Volunteer Fire Fighter at Mayday for 40 years. Dave was an avid softball player for many years and played on teams in Barnes, Randolph, and Green, Kansas. Dave is survived by his parents, Jerry and Marlene Schwartz of Randolph, Kansas; his daughter, Nicole Schwartz of Parsons, Kansas; two sisters, Jean Berstler and husband George and Jan Dreith and husband Jon, both of Randolph, Kansas; three nieces, Jessica Berstler, Jennifer Falley and Emily Hallier, and one nephew, Alan Dreith. A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas, with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. Music was furnished by Russell Peterson and Marjorie Webb. Pallbearers were Jay Caley, Terry Henry, Mike Hagenmaier, Royce Rothlisberger, Ronnie Richter and Mike Pfizenmaier. Burial was in the Mayday Cemetery northwest of Randolph, Kansas. A memorial has been established for the Riley County Mayday Rural Volunteer Fire Department or other charity of your choosing.
