Obituary of Wesley Quinton Esping
Wesley Quinton Esping, 62, Olsburg, Kansas, died on Nov. 6, 2012. Born February 15th, 1950 to Quinton and Ruth (Bjorling) Esping, he grew up on the family farm near Mariadahl, Kansas. In 1960 the family moved to Leonardville, Kansas, where he spent the rest of his youth. In 1968 he married Coleen Fortner and moved to Manhattan. Wes worked as a Refrigeration Technician for Midwest Appliance and later a Commercial Refrigeration Technician for Housing and Dining Services at Kansas State University.
Wes’s greatest pleasures were activities with his grandchildren and family. He loved to hunt and shoot and was a charter member of the Fancy Creek Shooting Range. He was a member of the Olsburg Lutheran Church, served on various community and church boards and was a Shriner and a 32 degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Coleen and daughters, Angela Kelley (Roger) and children, Wesley and Abigail, Kansas City, Missouri, and the Reverend Amanda Esping, Kimball, Nebraska, brother, Wayne Esping (Joli), Georgetown, Texas, sister Wanda Esping (Tim Anderson), Rock Island, Illinois, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at the Olsburg Lutheran Church in Olsburg, Kansas, with Rev. Amanda Esping and Paster Gordon L. Sandquist officiating. Music was furnished by Tom Holmquist and Wanda Esping. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Bjorling, Mark Esping, Marla Ann Elmquist, Marlysue Holmquist, Gretchen Esping, Karl Esping. Luellen Kasselman, Louise Easterberg, Dick Nelson, Tom Nelson, and with loving memories of Marcia Esping. Pallbearers were, Karl Kasselman, Kraig Kasselman, Ryan Holmquist, Jacob Nelson, Aaron Esping, Brandon Nelson and Bryon Nelson. Burial was in the Mariadahl Cemetery at Olsburg, Kansas. The Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home of Riley, Kansas was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established for the Friends of Fancy Creek Shooting Range and the Olsburg Lutheran Church Handicapped Accessibility Fund.
