Obituary of Elinor M. Woellhof
Elinor M. Woellhof, age 83 of Miltonvale, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at her home.
She was born on July 27, 1929 in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Walter H. and Ida V. (Folmer) Titus.
Elinor had a wonderful childhood as a preacher’s daughter. She played the violin in the school orchestra and later learned to play the piano, vibra-harp and organ. At the age of 14 in a church revival meeting, she gave her heart to Jesus and there determined to follow Jesus the rest of her life. She graduated high school at Marengo, Iowa. After graduation, she moved to Miltonvale to attend the Wesleyan College and graduated from the department of music.
While in college, she met Paul Woellhof and they were married by her father on August 1, 1950 in the Charles City, Iowa Wesleyan Church. He survives of the home.
In October of 1950 Paul and Elinor started attending Faith Mission Chapel in Clay Center, Kansas. It wasn’t long until Paul was given the responsibility of it and served there for 57 years. Elinor played a vital roll in the success and ongoings of the chapel. She enjoyed teaching the boys and girls ages 4-8 years old. She said that they were the most teachable.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Paul Woellhof and wife Carol of Springfield, Ohio and Wesley Woellhof and wife Mary of Fort Scott, Kansas; one daughter, Charlotte Mattson and husband Eddy of Quincy, Washington; one brother, Paul Titus of South Carolina; her twin sister, Dorothy Underwood of Indiana; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Clarence and Walter Titus and one sister, Lola Gregory.
Funeral services were held on July 30, 2013 at the Clay Center Wesleyan Church with Pastor Ron Graham officiating. Music was furnished by Leola Nicewander, Steve and Sheryl McMahon and Rob and Barbara Stewart. Pallbearers were Max Martin, Brandon Peck, Joel Mattson, Eddy Mattson, Edwin Woellhof and Walter Mugler. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Faith Mission Chapel. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas.
