Obituary of Sylvia E

Sylvia E. (Oman) Nelson, age 67 of Manhattan, Kansas died Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Via Christi Village in Manhattan, Kansas. She was born on December 2, 1945 at Walsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Howard A. and Caroline A. (Ruthstrom) Oman. Sylvia worked at Wal-Mart for 17 years in many different capacities and retired in 2002. It was the perfect job for her since she loved visiting with people and making new friends. She was a member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed bird watching. On March 22, 1997 she was married to George Nelson. He survives of the home. She recently moved back from Missouri, where she lived for ten years and made many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Sheli Oesterhaus and husband Reggie of Clay Center, Kansas; a brother Craig Oman of Manhattan, Kansas and two grandsons, Jake and John Knitter, both of Clay Center, Kansas. Graveside inurnment services were held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Walsburg Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. A memorial has been established for the Homecare and Hospice Foundation.
