Obituary of June Louise Chapman

June Louise Chapman, age 87, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Saturday April 20, 2013, at the Stormont Vail Medical Center in Topeka. She was born at Scottsville, Kansas, on June 6, 1925, the daughter of Loris and Vurble (Ridenour) Underhill. She was married on July 1, 1978, to Lewis E. Chapman. June was a homemaker and had worked at KSU, Bayer Construction Co., and had been a telephone switchboard operator at Plainville, Kansas. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Plainville, a member of the Fortnightly Club and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Lewis Chapman of the home at Manhattan, three sons, Loris Ray Hughes and wife Francie of Salina, Kansas, Howard Hughes and wife Jeannie of Lawrence, Kansas and Robert Hughes and Lori of Osborne, Kansas; one step daughter, Kathleen Caywood of Manhattan, Kansas; one brother, Ronald Underhill and wife Ginny of Beloit, Kansas; one sister, Mildred Christie of Salina, Kansas; nine grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas, with Pastor Paul Barkey officiating. Burial was in the Riley Cemetery.
