Obituary of Armin H. Olson

Armin Henry Olson, age 92 of Green, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Leonardville Nursing Home. He was born on September 7, 1922 in Clay Center, the son of Clyde W. and Maude Alta (Daniels) Olson and for two years lived on a farm near Bala. They then moved to a farm near Lasita, where he lived until going to the nursing home in March of 2013. He graduated from Leonardville High School in 1940. On February 14, 1948 in Leonardville, Kansas, he was married to Jean Peterson. She survives of the home. They farmed together until his health declined in 2012. He loved farming and was a very hard worker. He enjoyed fishing, hunting (especially coon hunting), attending his kids and grandkids sporting events and school activities. He faithfully attended church. He served on the Fancy Creek Township Board for many years. Armin was a mostly quiet man, except for when his sons slipped off the straight and narrow path. In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by two sons, Mike Olson and wife Terry of Manhattan and Bob Olson and wife Cindy of Green; eight grandchildren, Lari Olson of New York, NY, Ryan Olson of Silver Lake, Evan Nelson of Council Grove, Carla Hays of Topeka, Mary Olson of Lawrence, Aubri Olson of Olathe, Allysa Schurle of Leonardville and Gabriella Stafford of Manhattan and nine great granchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Austin and Gerold and one sister, Audrey. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Monday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 until 7:30 P.M. Monday. Burial will be in the Leonardville Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Leonardville Nursing Home and First Assembly of God in Manhattan. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
