Obituary of David A. Rundquist
David Alan Rundquist, age 64 of Green, Kansas died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.
He was born on September 3, 1950 in Clay Center, Kansas, the son of Veryl and Dorothy (Lindstrom) Rundquist.
He was married to Donna Goldhammer on May 8, 1976 in Wagner, South Dakota. She survives of the home.
David was a carpenter and worked for Bowman Construction for 12 years. In 1987 the family moved back to the Green area where he farmed and formed Rundquist Construction with his brother Steve in 1994.
He was a member of the Alert Covenant Church, Clay County Gideons and Clay Center VFW (Faye Walker Post). He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting, fishing, the outdoors and traveling to national parks, especially Rocky Mountain Park, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and Custer Park.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Mark Rundquist and Heather of Fredrick, Colorado; two daughters, Erica Craig and Brent of Wakefield and Katie Geiger and Jeremy of Randolph; his parents, Veryl and Dorothy Rundquist of Clay Center; one brother, Steve Rundquist and Karen of Leonardville; two sisters, Mary Bell and Greg of Riley and Dorrene Peterson and Bernie of Leonardville; one sister-in-law, Debbie Rundquist of Topeka; nine grandchildren, Garrett, Madison and Owen Craig of Wakefield, Kael, Grady and Morgan Rundquist of Fredrick, Colorado and Carter, Gemma and Wyatt Geiger of Randolph and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Rundquist.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Alert Covenant Church with Pastor Dwight Diller officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Sunday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3 - 5:00 P.M. Sunday. Burial with military honors will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, northeast of Green.
Memorials have been established for the Alert Covenant Church, Glioblastoma Foundation and all undesignated memorial money to be determined by the family at a later date. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral in Riley, Kansas.
