Obituary of Ray Madison Bommelaere
Ray Madison Bommelaere, age 82 of Manhattan, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Stoneybrook Rapid Recovery Unit in Manhattan.
He was born on December 20, 1933 in Springer, New Mexico, the son of Romain and Velma (Roberts) Bommelaere.
He was married to Mary Louise Samuelson on June 7, 1958 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She survives of the home.
Ray served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1961. He was then employed by Mountain Bell in Albuquerque and Southwestern Bell in Kansas until his retirement. In retirement he loved to fish, camp, travel, play with his grandkids and attend his Army unit reunions.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his children, Leita Fritzson and Bernard of Solomon, James Bommelaere of Palm Harbor, Florida, Victoria Edmondson of Overland Park and Donna Rohde and Jeff of Cheraw, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Angela, Monica, Madison, Brian, Matthew, Elizabeth and Samantha; four great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Ann Kitts and Mackie of Albuquerque, New Mexico and two nephews, one niece, one great nephew, one great niece and one great great nephew.
Cremation is planned and burial will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the Riley County Senior Center. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
