Obituary of Marjorie Ann Anderson

Marjorie Ann Anderson, age 92 of Waterville, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Blue Rapids. She was born on October 12, 1924 in Randolph, the daughter of August Edward and Nellie Bertha (Johnsmeyer) Richter. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1942. On March 1, 1945 in Randolph, she was married to Leonard Wendell Anderson. He preceded her in death in 2003. Marjorie was a homemaker and farm wife who loved to quilt, read, work on puzzles and took great pride in her family and always enjoyed their visits. She was a member of the Swede Creek United Methodist Church, where she was the church organist for over 30 years. She was the choir director, a Sunday school teacher and a member of U.M.W. She is survived by one son, Wendell Anderson and Brenda of Randolph; three daughters, Karen Orsak and Dickie of Friendswood, Texas, Arlyss Vathauer and Jim of Clay Center and Lisa Diederich and John of Barnes; 12 grandchildren, Jason Whorrall and Katie, Patrick Whorrall and Lindsey, Alex Westberry and Anna, Nick Westberry and Kristie, Jodi Innes and Mitch, Travis Vathauer, Cole Vathauer and Shannon, Brady Vathauer, Michael Diederich, Roger Diederich, Melissa Diederich and Ryan Diederich and 13 great grandchildren, Andrew and Lilli Westberry, Macie, Emeri and Rylee Westberry, Carson and Chloe Whorrall, Brayden, Aeron and Averi Innes, Kaylie and Addison Vathauer and Jaxon Vathauer. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lauranell Westberry; three sisters, Alta Bulk, Hazel Kaump and Eileen Bergsten and two son-in-laws, David Whorrall and Wes Westberry. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Swede Creek United Methodist Church, north of Randolph, with Pastors Sandy Ferguson and Kevin Larson officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Thursday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday. Burial will be in the Cottage Hill Cemetery, south of Waterville. A memorial has been established for the Swede Creek United Methodist Church and Randolph Senior Center. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
