Obituary of Claryce Bohnenblust

Claryce Jean Bohnenblust, age 87, of Riley, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

She was born near Leonardville on July 12, 1929, the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline (Nelson) Davis.  She attended schools at Leonardville and Walsburg and graduated in May of 1947 from Leonardville Rural High School.  

On June 17, 1951, she was married to LeRoy Bohnenblust at Walsburg Lutheran Church.  They were married for 65 years and 11 months.  He survives of the home.

Before she was married, she had kept house for friends and candled eggs at Blaske’s Produce.  After raising their family, she began working at the Leonardville Nursing home for 19 years before retiring.    

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons Jerry Bohnenblust of Riley, Larry Bohnenblust of Clay Center, Roger Bohnenblust and wife Oneita of Leonardville and Alan Bohnenblust and wife Kristin of Eudora; one daughter LaRae Kraemer and husband Doug of Manhattan; eight grandchildren, Jaime, Kyle (Mallory), Emma, Ethan, Travis and Trevor Bohnenblust and Tristin and Braeden Kraemer and two great grandchildren, Christian and Kaden Bohnenblust. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, in infancy, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Walsburg Lutheran Church with Rev. Keith Wiens officiating.  Respect calls may be made anytime Tuesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.  The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Burial will be in the Walsburg Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Claryce Bohnenblust Memorial Fund.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
