Obituary of Darrel Weller

Darrel Weller, age 68 of Clay Center, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017.

He was born on December 19, 1948 in Clay Center, the son of Carl Henry and Una Idella (Coutermarsh) Weller.  He graduated from Riley County High School in 1966 and then NCK Technical College in Beloit.

On July 27, 1969 at Alert Covenant Church, he was married to Coleen Ruth Hohman.  She survives of the home.

Darrel was currently in Sales and Estimating for Clay County Lumber and Supply and was on the Building Trades Board for the Clay Center High School.  He also worked at Fullington’s Lumber in Clay Center for 32 years and Home Lumber in Junction City for 11 years.  He enjoyed woodworking and home renovations and was an avid Royals, Chiefs and K-State fan, but most of all loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

In addition to his wife Coleen, he is survived by one son, Brett Weller and Hannah of Wichita; two daughters, Traci Kohler and Dennis of Derby and Jodi Buchholz and Chris of Bel Aire; his mother, Una Weller of Leonardville; one brother, Wayne Weller and Marylyn of Clay Center; one sister, Unita Hendrickson of Omaha, Nebraska and his six grandchildren, Sierra and Brendan Kohler, Sheldon and Kinsey Buchholz and Cade and Landon Weller.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Weller and his brother-in-law, Larry Hendrickson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
