Obituary of Julia Bletscher

Julia Elizabeth Bletscher, age 89 of Leonardville, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born on August 16, 1928 in Clay Center, the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Paronto) Kubick and graduated from Clay Center Community High School.

On June 29, 1946, she was married to Dennis Marvin Bletscher.  Together they owned Bletscher Radio and Electric in Leonardville for 53 years.  He preceded her in death in 2000.

She loved working with the public and served as Chairman of the Kansas Elks Major Project and was active in the Clay Center Elks Lodge Ladies activities.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting and other handwork and sewed most of her clothes.  She was a member of the Leonardville United Methodist Church and later transferred her membership to the United Church of Crawfordville, Iowa when she moved there.  She served on the Parish Council and her church family was an important part of her life.

She is survived by one daughter, Lennis Beichter and Eldon of Junction City; one step sister, Lois Norris of Riley; two grandchildren, Mitch Moore and LeAnne Roberts, both of Emporia; two step grandsons, Dane Beichter of Chesapeake. Virginia and Dustin Beichter of Red Rock, Arizona; four great grandchildren, Casey Moore, Sadie Moore, Isaac Moore and Christopher Roberts and three step great grandchildren, Grace Beichter, Nora Beichter and Khloe Meinke.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace Kubick and Joe Kubick, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Sandy Ferguson officiating.  Burial will be in the Leonardville United Methodist Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Meadowlark Hospice and may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
