Obituary of Janet Peterson

Janet Sue Peterson, age 85 of Leonardville, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born on August 7, 1932 in Clay Center, the daughter of Roy and Emilie (Nanninga) Lagerquist.

On April 12, 1953 at the Leonardville EUB Church, she was married to William “Bill” Reuben Peterson.  He preceded her in death on November 29, 2016.

Janet graduated from Kansas State University and was a teacher until she had children.  She then stayed home to raise her children and was the bookkeeper for the family business, Peterson Construction.  She was a member of the Leonardville United Methodist Church, Methodist Women, Leonardville Homemakers Club and enjoyed the Tuesday Sing-A-Long at the Leonardville Nursing Home. Janet had a strong faith in God and it served her family well. She was an avid K-State fan, following all sports and also the Royals.

She is survived by one son, Bernie Peterson and wife Dorrene of Leonardville; one daughter, Sharon Tucker and husband Lee of Leonardville; one brother, Dennis Lagerquist and wife Erlene of Minneapolis, Minnesota; six grandchildren and one great grandson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sylvia Jacobson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Leonardville United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Ferguson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the Leonardville United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in the Leonardville City Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Leonardville Nursing Home.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
