Obituary of Lois Andersen

Lois Kathleen Andersen, age 87 of Waterville, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids.

She was born on May 28, 1930 in Waterville, the daughter of George and Erma (Ensign) Blaser.

On May 22, 1949, she was married to Walter Glen Andersen.  He preceded her in death on June 27, 2017.

Lois was a bookkeeper for various businesses in the Waterville area such as Lamoreaux Homes (later known as J.S.L.), and Nelson Construction, and was the Waterville City Treasurer.  She and her husband were dairy farmers for many years.  She also taught at a rural country school.  She was the church organist at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Waterville for over 60 years and also at the Olsburg Lutheran Church in the early 1950’s.  She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Andersen and Kathy Hupp of Lawrence, Mark Andersen and Susan of Lawrence and Gail Andersen and Julie of Waterville; one daughter, Karen Benson and Joe of Hiawatha; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ellen Rook.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the St. Mark Lutheran Church in Waterville with Sister Mary Arie officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m until service time on Tuesday at the St. Mark Lutheran Church.  Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
