Obituary of Kathern Kleiner
Ella Kathern Kleiner, age 94 of Wamego, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society Valley Vista in Wamego.
She was born on December 13, 1923, east of Stockdale in Pottawatomie County, the daughter of John Lester and Alma (Sweet) Henton and graduated from St. George High School.
On May 27, 1945, she was married to Harlen Dale Kleiner in Manhattan, KS. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Kathern worked as an invoice clerk for J.C. Penney in Manhattan for over 35 years. She was a member of the Zeandale Community Church and enjoyed gardening and making quilts to enter into the county fair. She supported her husband and her four sons in all of their 4-H projects and loved to square dance.
She is survived by four sons, Don Kleiner and Diana of Belvue and their children, Sara (and Nathan) Winter, Kent (and Jennifer) Schley and Ashley (and Tanner) King; David Kleiner and Shirly of Olathe and their children, Brandi (and John) Reynolds, Megan Clarkson and Travis (and Karina) Kleiner; Dennis Kleiner and Sydney of Liberal and their children, Nikia (and Sam) Schiffner, Denton (and Whitney) Kleiner, Keaton (and Elizabeth) Kleiner, Matt Presley and Ben (and Katie) Garner; and Dan Kleiner and Karen of Columbia, Missouri and their children, Andrew Kleiner, Ashley Kleiner and Ryan Kleiner; her brother-in-law, Vaughn Kleiner of Wamego and 37 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eldon Henton and his wife Evelyn and her sister-in-law, Donna Kleiner.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Pastor Tim Pearson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Good Samaritan Society Valley Vista and Great Lakes Hospice and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
