Obituary of Kathryn Ann Weik
Kathryn Ann “Katie” Weik, age 83, of Randolph, Kansas died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at the Leonardville Nursing Home in Leonardville, Kansas.
She was born on January 14, 1929 in Mayday Township in northern Riley County, the daughter of Paul and Emma (Haller) Wohler.
Katie worked for the State Bank of Randolph in old Randolph, Union State Bank in Olsburg and Riley State Bank in Riley. She also worked in the Tuttle Creek Restaurant in Randolph. At the time of her death, she was an employee at Sharp’s Short Stop in Randolph. Katie was the first city clerk for new Randolph.
She was married on October 29, 1953 in Junction City, Kansas to Emery “Dud” Weik. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1984.
She is survived by two sisters, Alyce Springer of Riley, Kansas and Mary Scott and husband Dow of Midland, Texas; a sister in law, Shirley Wohler of Randolph, Kansas and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Warren Wohler, Bob Wohler, Glenn Wohler and Charlie Wohler and one sister, Pauline Sjostrand.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas, with Pastor Frank Moyer officiating. Music was furnished by Betty Wohler and Marjorie Webb. Pallbearers were Dean Nelson, Tony Nelson, John McPherson, Harold Higgins, Doug Bylarlay and Danny Pfaff. The Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Randolph Fancy Creek Cemetery north of Randolph, Kansas.
Memorials have been established for the Leonardville Nursing Home and Randolph United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left in care of the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
