Obituary of Louise Barrett

Louise F. Barrett, age 89 of Riley, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born on February 2, 1929 in Corning, the daughter of Neil Claude and Florence Irene (Moyer) Kemplay.

On April 6, 1947 in Hiawatha, she was married to George Miller Barrett.  He preceded her in death in 2005.

Louise was an LPN at Memorial Hospital in Manhattan for over 26 years.  She was a member of the the Riley United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Riley Senior Citizen’s.  She enjoyed sewing and fellowship with her neighbors.  She was an excellent seamstress, making dresses for many weddings.

She is survived by her daughter, Jorja Fleener and husband John of Manhattan; her daughter-in-law, Tami Barrett of Junction City; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Kirby Barrett in 2010; two siblings, Mildred Kemplay and Kenneth Kemplay; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Riley Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Riley United Methodist Church.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
