Stan has known Ernie as a school classmate and neighbor. They used to hunt together and both had an Enfield 30-06 army rifle, no scopes. We went on 2 deer hunting trips to Wyoming with another classmate and bagged 6 deer. Ernie helped me with several redesigning of farm equipment projects. He was very creative and always glad to help. We enjoyed the times we met Ernie and Della at sirloin stockade to visit and reminisce. Betty was amazed at the quilting Della did, her sewing abilities in making custom wedding dresses and her warm smile and friendship. They both are loved and missed.

We are members of the Oregon-California Trails Association who had the good fortune to work with both Ernie and Della. Ernie used his many skills for the organization, including making and carving name plates for national board members; Jack was a recipient of one that sits on his workdesk.
Della made thebeautiful red authentic Kansas prairie dress that Pat uses for emigrant women on the trails presentations.
Both came to our aid at the National Trails Center in Independence in the photography of an 1856 National Archives map of Francis Bryan's reconnaissance from Fort Riley to the Continental Divide at Bridger's Pass, requiring Ernie's unusually great skills.
We miss both of them and treasure the momentos we received from their hands [ the nameplate, the dress, the photography series.]

Ned Harris introduced me to Ernie as the best welder he knew and he certainly was that. The work he did for me was excellent as was the man. I totally enjoyed the discussions we had when I went to pick up a project. He will be missed more than you know.

Was at their place several times, because of the job, but was always greeted with smiles and happy conversation. Both him and his wife made me feel welcome, every time I seen them. Thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family. KEEP THE FAITH.....KEEP THE MEMORIES!

This man portrayed himself in a manner so Strong that deserves nothing but Respect.
A true Artist so Talented that many I have talked to would not know where to even start some of the workings he has done. I was always fascinated when I got to stop in at his shop with a Friend, I could spend hours just looking at projects he had started and was working on and studying the way he was going about it. A Truly Fascinating Man
My thoughts and prayers to his Family,
may God Carry them through this battle between Heart and Mind, and the Reunion in Heaven for Earny
Is sweet and the Dearest ever imaginable.
