Obituary of Harold Braun

Harold Albert Braun, age 82 of Clay Center, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at his home. He was born on December 30, 1932 in Eustis, Nebraska, the son of Albert Fred and Martha Christina (Rieker) Braun. On April 27, 1958, he was married to Velma Stuenkel at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer. She preceded him in death in 2012. Harold was a farmer and an active member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Silvertones, loved spending time with his family and eating a lot of ice cream. He was a great craftsman with wood and made furniture for their home and helped some of his children build their homes. He is survived by one son, Gene Braun and wife Danielle of Clay Center; three daughters, Rhonda Newby and husband Greg of Wichita, Angela Spencer and husband Brian of Lyndon and Gloria Fowles and husband Brad of Clay Center; two sisters, Arleta Schurle of Clay Center and Elsie Yokoyama of Hawaii; ten grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Carroll Richter of Clay Center and many other family and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alberta Richter and Irene Lund McGuire. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Joohyang Kim officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Wednesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, where the family will receive friends from from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Green Christian School and Youthville in Newton. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
