Obituary of Dixie Richter

Dixie Marie Richter, age 74 of Barnes, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House.

She was born on October 18, 1944 in Seneca, the daughter of E.L. and Florence Faye (Murdock) Gross. On December 22, 1962 in Marysville, she was married to Arlen Milton Richter.  He survives of the home.

Dixie worked in the house while her kids were growing up, coaching their t-ball and softball teams, but following their graduations, she went to school and became a CNA.  She worked for nursing homes in Washington and Marshall counties and also worked in Home Health Services.  She was a member of the Zion Fancy Creek United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School, was a 4-H Leader and loved to crochet, make afghans and ceramics.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Becky Schurle of Clay Center and Cindy Richter of Kansas City, Missouri; one son, Derek Richter of Ulysses; four grandchildren, Blaine, Trevin and Jacey Schurle and Vanessa Richter and two sisters, Sherrie Busing and Vicky Sue Gross, both of Marysville.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Zion Fancy Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Ferguson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Zion Fancy Creek Cemetery.

A memorial may be made to the Dixie Richter Memorial Fund, to be determined at a later date and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
