Obituary of Irene Klocke

Irene Florence Klocke, age 91 of Clay Center, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 at Medicalodge of Clay Center.

She was born on October 1, 1927 in Green, the daughter of Henry Ernest and Dessie (Clark) Wachsnicht.  She graduated from Green High School.

On October 14, 1947 in Green, she was married to Lawrence Edward Klocke.  He preceded her in death in 2005.

Irene was a cook for the Leonardville Grade School, volunteered at the Leonardville Nursing Home, was a 4-H leader for the Leonardville Hustler’s and a Childcare Provider.  She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Green Auxiliary and Family Community Education (FCE).  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and flowers.  She had a love of music and playing the piano.

She is survived by two daughters, Edna Williams and husband Richard of Junction City and Lorraine Nighswonger and husband Jim of Nixa, Missouri; one son, Edward Klocke and wife Deborah of Solomon; seven grandchildren, Darla Williams, Dena Huff and husband Dane, Lisa Titsworth and husband Alan, Todd Nighswonger and wife Terri, Tammy Anthony and husband Dennis, Michael Klocke and wife Jayme and Laura Ford and husband Jesse; twenty four great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dorothy Buseman and two brothers, Wendell Wachsnicht and Howard Wachsnicht.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Medicalodge of Clay Center and Ebenezer United Methodist Church.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
