Uncle Bob was truly a man of grit and determination. He was a good role model and I looked up to him. He let me learn to drive a manual transmission in his pasture, trusted me to disc his field on his "Johnny popper", let me comfort an orphaned calf in the back of his truck, and I could go on. His farm was an adventure for a young boy from the city. And dear to me, was the compassion he showed, when I caught his field on fire. When I hear a tractor putting in a crop or smell the aroma of fresh cut alfalfa, I will think of Uncle Bob and fun-filled summer days on his farm. Keep Heaven's farms in order and I will see you again.
