Obituary of Madeline F. Rowley
Madeline Florine Rowley, age 93, formerly of Manhattan, Kansas passed away at the Leonardville Nursing Home on Friday, October 23, 2015.
She was born on July 13, 1922 in Riley, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Goldie (Mugler) Debus. She attended grade school in Riley and graduated with the class of 1940 from Riley Rural High School. Following graduation, Madeline worked in the Headquarters offices at Marshall Field in Ft. Riley, Kansas. She then moved to Manhattan with her two sisters and was married to Joseph Rowley on April 26, 1944 in Manhattan. Joe served in the United States Army during World War II and he and Madeline made their home in Manhattan upon his return from the war. Joe preceded her in death in 1984.
Madeline and Joe had two sons, Mark and Michael, who both remained in the area after completing school. In addition to spending considerable time with her children following their graduation, she worked at the Union National Bank in Manhattan in various departments for over 28 years. Madeline lived in Manhattan until 2014, when she moved to the Leonardville Nursing Home.
She is survived by one son, Michael Rowley of St. George; three grandchildren, Natasha Rowley Phipps of Colorado, Trisha Ann Rowley Brown of Manhattan and Michael Rowley and wife Faith of San Antonio, Texas; eight great grandchildren, Coralynne, Max, Brody, Tristan, Crysteen, Tyler, Beau and Ethan and her twin sister, Mariam Buseman of Olathe
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her son Mark in 2007 and her sister Marguerite Bell.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. Cremation will follow after the visitation. A private family inurnment will be in the Riley Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
