Obituary of Kaye Blodgett
Kaye Jeanne Specht Blodgett, age 79 of Keats, passed away peacefully with her two children by her side on November 19, 2019 from complications from a brain aneurysm at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
She was born on August 23, 1940 in Leonardville, the daughter of Paul and Myrtle (Simnitt) Specht. On September 10, 1961 she married the love of her life and best friend, Warren Eldon Blodgett, who preceded her in death on November 2, 2019.
Kaye had an amazing career as a successful business owner and cosmetologist. She loved her job and all her clients were friends of her’s for a lifetime. She was also an active member of the Keats United Methodist Women’s Group, the Keats United Methodist Church and the Silver Creek Ladies Club. She was an exceptional artist and loved to cook, crochet, knit and work in her flower garden. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She loved every minute of her role as mother, mentor and best friend.
She is survived by one son, Paul Blodgett and wife Michelle of Manhattan; one daughter, Karla Tillberg and husband David of Salina; four grandchildren, Cody Blodgett, Grant Tillberg, Meredith Tillberg and Hannah Blodgett; three sisters, Shirley Higgins, Donna Diskau and Beverly Sundgren and husband Eldon; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Specht and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by seven brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Sarah Allison and husband Charles, Mary Jo Hageman and husband Eldon, Bruce Blodgett, Peggy Morgan, Anita Glendening, Joan Blakely and husband Frank and Clark Blodgett.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leland Specht; one sister Ila Simons and three brother-in-laws, Walter Simons, Dean Diskau and Duane Higgins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Keats United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sedalia Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Keats United Methodist Church and the University of Kansas Neurology Unit. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
