Obituary of Ronald Branfort

Ronald Ray Branfort, age 80 of Junction City, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.

He was born on December 5, 1938 in Clay Center, the son of Elwood and Ann (Anderson) Branfort.  He graduated from Green Rural High School in 1956.

On May 3, 1959 in Green, he was married to Twila Gladys Richter and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May.  She survives of the home.

Ron graduated from Kansas State University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  After graduation Ron worked as a Professional Mechanical Engineer specializing in facilities management in Michigan, Colorado and Kansas. He enjoyed researching and collecting artifacts on Civil War, Kansas Indian Wars and family ancestry.

He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of history, family ancestry, growing up in Green, Kansas and “true stories” especially with his grandkids.  Ron was a member of Junction City First United Methodist Church, the Masons, Kansas State Alumni Association, United States Cavalry Association, Professional Engineering Societies of Kansas and Colorado, Geary County Historical Society and National Rifle Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Ryan Branfort and spouse Susan of Salina, Valeri Rosenow and spouse Jeffrey of Manhattan and Tony Branfort and spouse Khanh Nguyen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a sister, Karen Williams and husband Tom of Benton; eight grandchildren, Dane and Amanda Branfort, Brandi and Michael Lacy, Kayla Sitton, Taylor Sitton, Haylie and Austin Werner, Colin Rosenow, Emory Rosenow and Aidan Rosenow and five great grandchildren, Tatum, Colton, Dawson, Kenna and Isabella.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Junction City First United Methodist Church with Pastor Dirk Weiss officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.  Burial will be in the Mayday Cemetery.
