Obituary of Betty Hoffman
Frances Betty Hoffman, age 71 of Clay Center, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Medicalodge of Clay Center.
She was born on December 12, 1947 in Kirksville, Missouri. She was one of eighteen children to Delbert and Nettie (Sizemore) Mountain.
On May 13, 1969, she was married to Dean Paul Hoffman. He survives of the home.
Betty was a housewife most of her working career, but did cook at the Manhattan Sale Barn and also worked as a janitor at Kansas State University. She enjoyed fishing on the river bank, reading history books on the Broughton and Clay Center area and crafts, especially puzzles of wolves and indians.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Donna Hoffman of Clay Center; one grandson, Dallas Hagenmaier of Clay Center; one brother, Delbert Mountain, Jr. and wife Pauline of Kirksville, Missouri; one sister, Ethel Mountain of Kirksville, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Fay Hoffman and wife LaDonna of Leonardville; two nephews, Ernie Hoffman and wife Sandy of Leonardville and Kevin Hoffman and wife Ronna of Manhattan; several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and her many adopted grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, fifteen siblings and one brother-in-law, Gail Hoffman.
Cremation is planned with private family services being held at a later date.
A memorial has been established for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
