Obituary of Ray Bierman

Irwin Ray Bierman, age 84 of Riley, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House. He was born on December 16, 1935 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Oscar and Maud Bierman. On June 17, 1961, he was married to Karen Faun Flanagan.  She survives the home. Sergeant Irwin "Ray" Bierman served in the United States Army as an infantry man, paratrooper, cook and recruiter.  Following his retirement from the military in 1982, he had various jobs from window washer and painter, to custodian for the Riley County school district.  He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. He served as deacon and adult Sunday school teacher for a number of years.  He is survived by his wife, Karen Bierman; one son, Eric Bierman; one daughter, Kellye Bierman; three brothers, Bob Bierman, John Bierman and Earl Bierman; three grandchildren, Nik McCoy, Shane Eslit and wife Annie and Vandi Melton and husband Tony and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor David VanBebber officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.  Burial with Military Honors will be in the Riley Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Good Shepherd Hospice House.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
