Aunt Jo and Uncle Bill came home to Kansas for Christmas every other year back when flying was a rare event.
They flew into Wichita's airport and spent time with the Horton Family then borrowed a car to drive up to Jo's folks' farm for the Sinn Christmas. It seems like we always had a cold snap, or snow or some other variety of weather they couldn't get in California. As little kids, my cousin Renee and I would organize the gifts so that we opened ours from Aunt Jo and Bill at the same time. Being, the same age, we usually got the same gift and wanted to be surprised.
As a school-teacher, Jo could recommend good books for a kid to read. She loved reading all her life and participated in the audio book library while at Meadowlark as well as the Sloan House Book Club.
In fact, she participated in everything she could.
I loved that zest for life.
Miss you Aunt Jo.

Jo was a dear friend of mine. I met her a short 4.5 years ago in Sloan house. We watched birds from the patio, attended meetings, classes, Friday evening music events. She taught me calligraphy and greeting card making. We enjoyed playing Scrabble. JO is a valid scrabble word, LISA is not, even though I tried and I tried so we'd laugh.
The 4th of July will always be in my heart as Jo's birthday. She loved apple pie with homemade ice cream on her special day but not watermelon. One of our inside laughs.
Jo was a lovely lady. I shall miss her dearly.
My sincerest condolences to the Sinn and Horton families and all her friends.

Aunt Jo was the best and loved coming back to Kansas for family visits and loved having family go to California to visit her and Uncle Bill. We always had the best time when we visited them in California and have many great memories exploring the world with them. We visited once when our girls were grade school age and I can still see us all sitting on their patio, enjoying fresh fruit and looking out over the hills to the ocean from their house. We will miss you Aunt Jo.

I got to know Jo when my parents were in Meadowlark. She was always good for a hug and a laugh. I haven't been able to see her lately, but I will miss her.
