Obituary of Joseph Wait

Joseph Leland Wait, age 51 of Clay Center, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Salina Regional Health Center. He was born on June 23, 1969 in Clay Center, the son of Leland McKinley and Jolene Kay (Cramer) Wait. He graduated from Clay Center Community High and Beloit Vo-Tech as a diesel mechanic. Joe drove a semi for James Trucking out of Wakefield and Girton’s. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, his basset hounds and being a mechanic. He is survived by two sisters, Penny Smith of Clay Center and Karla Choitz and husband Darrell of Ellsworth; his brother-in-law, Dan Cyre of Jamestown; his aunts and uncles, Fred and Dee Wait of Miltonvale and Treva and Johnny Hahn of Napa, Idaho; his very best friend, Brad Reed of Clay Center; his close first cousin, Larry Wait of Tulsa, Oklahoma and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sheri Cyre. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Rob Stewart officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joseph Wait Memorial Fund, to be designated at a later date by the family. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
