Obituary of Gladys Beauchamp
Gladys Genieva Beauchamp age 91, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at her home.
She was born on September 27, 1923 in Green, Kansas, the daughter of Herman and Bessie (Hazen) Bertsch.
On September 7, 1941, she was married to Howard A. Beauchamp in Green, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2009.
Gladys and Howard were farmers and she operated a beauty shop in her home in Leonardville, Kansas. When they moved to Clay Center in 1969, she continued with her beauty shop out of her home. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center and the Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City. They moved to Sun City, Arizona in 2000 where Gladys enjoyed ceramics classes, bingo and playing cards with friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by seven siblings; Esther Carlson, Florence Riek, Foster Bertsch, Clara Carlson, Eulah Meek, Howard Bertsch and Donald Bertsch all from the Clay Center and two grandchildren, Jerry and Ricky Crisano.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Crisano of Brooklyn, New York, Janet Hoy and husband Chris of Prairie Village, Kansas and Sandra Britt and husband Michael of Sun City, Arizona; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center with Pastor Scott Lingle officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Monday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7:00 P.M. Monday. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Valley of Phoenix, AZ or the First Presbyterian Church of Clay Center and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
