Dear Eldo and girls;
It was a shock this morning to learn of Elaine's death a week ago.Oh I am so very sorry for all of you.
What a huge loss.
Elaine first job after her computer degree was at the K-State Computer Center and I had the privilege of
working with her for a few years, then again had an office near her when she moved into the Registrar's Office.
Elaine was a gem. She had great skill and talent but also remarkable people skills. I so admired her for
the joy she brought to the world.
Once I had the fun of visiting your farm and meeting you, Eldo, I hold you and the girls and their ffamilies
in thought and prayer for peace and healing from this loss and during this transition to a new reality. .
Sincerely, Beth Unger

I was in high school with Elaine, am a couple years older than her, and grew up on a farm near where Eldo & Elaine lived. My mother, Emogene Winkler rode to work in Manhattan (Kansas State U.) with Elaine for a while & got to know her very well. I'm sure that mother and Elaine shared many stories about their respective departments of employment at KSU. I know that mother was appreciative of the company Elaine provided during the commute, especially when the weather was less than ideal. I want to wish Elaine's family the very best. I will be thinking especially about Eldo during this difficult time. Eldo and his family attended Fairview Church as did I and other members of my Winkler family. My mother past away earlier this year as well. I know that Elaine unfortunately suffered from the effects of a chronic lung disease that also afflicts my wife Peggy. I'm glad that I had a chance to visit with her at my mother's funeral. RIP Elaine.

Elaine and I are "double second cousins." That means that we share as much DNA as first cousins. Somehow in these circumstances that struck me as meaningful. Life circumstances didn't bring us together as much as I wished. But a deep warmth and love persisted. Maybe from early play in the upstairs of Aunt Hulda and Uncle Elmer's house during a family gathering when we were very young. Or on the Davies family farm on a warm sunny day, as our mother's sat in their kitchen sharing stories. A little over a year ago, Elaine and Eldo sat with Hal (my brother) and I after our mother's funeral. It was so supportive. I will always remember Elaine's deep capacity for kindness and love. My deep condolences to all of her family. —Karen Johnson

I always enjoyed talking with Elaine when i went to Cardwell Hall to pick up my computer printouts, that was back when we had to process everything through the central computer. Elaine helped me a lot in my early computer use. I also have beautiful memories of playing cards with Eldo and Elaine when i first moved to the Fairview community. May God bless and strengthen you in this time of loss. Lynette Hoffman
