Jane and I used to tour Manhattan to see the Christmas lights every year. Sometimes I would scope them out before we went and sometimes we would take out chances. No mater how elaborate or simple the decorations, she was delighted with every different house and we always ended up having a delightful evening, even if, in our enthusiasm we ended up having to turn around several times to get back on the right track.
