Obituary of Delmar Pickett
Delmar V. Pickett, age 94 of Westmoreland, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Well Springs of Westmoreland.
He was born on February 24, 1926 in Barnes, the son of James and Lydia (Barker) Pickett.
Following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. After serving his country, he worked as a heavy equipment operator and also worked at the Honor Camp at Randolph for many years. Later in his working career he was a Corrections Officer at the Topeka Correctional Facility until his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed woodworking and making such things as clocks, pens and keychains. In his retirement years he loved traveling in his RV.
He is survived by one son, John Pickett and wife Holly of Paxico; one daughter, JoAnne Norman and husband Bob of Randolph and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Del Pickett and Kenny Pickett; one daughter, Jane Pickett; four brothers, Omar Pickett, Howard Pickett, Lloyd Pickett and Ivan Pickett and three sisters, Edith Rosell, Opal Pickett Johnson and Dorothy Pickett.
A graveside service will be held at the Mound Cemetery south of Barnes at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
Memorial contributions may be made to Well Springs of Westmoreland and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
