I probably have enough memories to share to fill up a book, so I'll just pick a few. Grandpa Lewie was a tough guy. I remember the time we were having trouble getting our milk cow to move. Leiwe was sure he could get her to move, so he took ahold of the halter and pulled with all his might. She moved, but it was in the opposite way he was pulling, so down he went, but he popped right back up and started pulling again. He was a hard worker, and he kept at a job until it was done. Even if it meant he had to come up with some pretty unusual ways to finish the job. I remember the time that he wanted to pound a post into the ground, but he could not find the post driver, so he got a chair out and a sledgehammer and got to work. We call that the Lewie method, if something needs done, you make it happen right now, no excuses!
Lewie also knew how to have fun, and he could have fun with anyone. Young or old it didn't matter he loved everyone and brought them so much joy. I loved watching him play out in the yard with the kids. We also had a lot of fun playing cards on Tuesday evenings. He was such a confident card player. Lewie would make these outrageous bids during our Pitch games, and all the players would think there was no way he would get his bid, but most all of the time it worked out in his favor. He also had a saying when Hearts was trump, "Hearty man ate a toad." I wish I would have asked him where the sating came from.
Lewie also loved the outdoors. He went on 2 or 3 walks a day when he lived here on the "poor farm" as he would say. The also loved sitting and watching the animals in the yard and watching the river go by.
I would call Lewie an optimistic person. He found joy in everything, which made him a joy to be around. Lewie was the most kind hearted generous man. It didn't matter if you were his best friend or worst enemy, he treated you the same, with love.
Grandpa Lewie, we love you and you will be missed terribly here on "the poor farm".

So sorry to hear of this. Lewis was a super nice guy. It was always a fun time to go out and visit him, June, and Ike at their homes on the river.

It was an honor and privilege to care for Lewis for the past year I have been at Valley Vista as an RN. Lewis was a gentleman and a kind soul. He is an angel in heaven now for sure. He is missed dearly already by all of us. Thinking of you all and will always remember him. May you remember all the good memories and find joy in them. ♥️
