Obituary of Barbara Ann Rundquist
Barbara Ann Rundquist, age 83 of Leonardville, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at her home.
She was born on February 5, 1932 in Clay Center, the daughter of George F. and Margaret E. (Nanninga) Trumpp. She grew up in the Leonardville community and at age 10 she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined the Evangelical Church in Leonardville.
On June 27, 1951 she was married to Dolan Paul Rundquist. He survives of the home.
In 1951 she graduated from North Park Junior College. She worked for the Dean of Music at Bethany College, for Covenant offices in Chicago and for General Cable Corporation until Dolan finished college and seminary. Then she finished her college education at Pacific Lutheran University with a B.A. in education. She taught 4th and 5th grades in Tacoma, Washington and Loveland, Colorado. She also taught Learning Skills at Central College in McPherson and directed and taught the Stillman Valley Covenant Preschool in Stillman Valley, Illinois.
Together with her husband they served Covenant Churches in Washington, Colorado, Michigan, Kansas, Illinois and Nebraska. She was active in children’s work, taught senior high and adult Sunday School classed, sponsored senior adult overnight outings and directed choirs in churches they served. She sang in the Bethany Oratorio Society for 10 years and for several years she took piano lessons from international concert pianist, Dr. James Cook at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She served on the National Board of Covenant Women as National Historian for five years and on the Covenant Midwest Conference Board for six years functioning as liason from that board to Covenant Cedars Bible Camp in Nebraska.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Darin Rundquist of Leonardville; one daughter, Krista Schoonover and Jerry of Loves Park, Illinois; one granddaughter, Jessica Schoonover and one brother, Arlan Trumpp of Leonardville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Clay Center Covenant Church with Pastors Grant Clay and Dwight Diller officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Thursday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with the family receiving friends from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery east of Green.
Memorials have been established for National Covenant Women’s Organization and Clay Center Covenant Church. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
