Obituary of Betty L. Bubendorf

Betty Lou Bubendorf, age 89 of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the Good Shepherd Hospice House. She was born on September 6, 1925 in Quenemo, Kansas, the daughter of Maurice and Lucille (Jolley) Orr. She attended schools in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Quenemo and graduated from Neosha Rapids. She attended secretarial schooling in Arkansas. She worked as a telephone operator in Quenemo, Fort Riley, Manhattan and retired after 30 years of service at Kansas State University. On February 20, 1954, she was married to Philip William Bubendorf. He survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Michael P. Bubendorf and wife Jan of Manhattan; two daughters, Jody O’Malley and husband John of Manhattan and Theresa Andress and husband Wayne of Baytown, Texas; two brothers, Taylor Knight of Manhattan and Richard Knight of Florida; one sister, Barbara Given of Alexandria, Virginia and four grandsons, John Paul O’Malley and wife Kathy, Shawn O’Malley and wife Michelle, Jeff O’Malley and Josh Green. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Green and one brother, Jim Orr. Funeral services with a celebration of life were held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with David Thompson officiating. Music was furnished by Dan and Marcia O’Neal, Jennifer Altwegg and Jody O’Malley. Pallbearers were John Paul O’Malley, Shawn O’Malley, Jeff O’Malley, John O’Malley, Wayne Andress and Brian Wilson. Burial was in the Riley Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Good Shepherd Hospice House. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
