Obituary of Rodney Ruthstrom

Rodney LeRoy Ruthstrom, age 80 of Clay Center, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on December 31, 1937 in Clay Center, the son of LeRoy Waldemar and Evelyn Anna (Rosell) Ruthstrom.

He was married to Harriett Lynn Phillips on September 28, 1963 in Ottawa.  She survives of the home.

Rodney was a grounds maintenance supervisor at Kansas State University for 18 years.  He was a member of the Clay Center Country Club, Elks Lodge, American Legion and a shareholder of the Leonardville Golf Course.  He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter.

In addition to his wife Lynn, he is survived by one daughter, Diana Loomis of Manhattan; two grandsons, Ryan Loomis and Kyle Loomis, both of Manhattan; one brother, Mark Ruthstrom of Clay Center and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Clay Center United Methodist Church with Pastors Ryan Lynch and Kevin Larson officiating.  Inurnment with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Meadowlark Hospice or the Johnson Cancer Research Center at KSU and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
