To the family, my sincere condolences for your loss of your loved one. As you cope with your loss, may you also find comfort in knowing that God promises to put an end to all the things that have plagued mankind for centuries including death (Revelation 21:3,4). May the words from God's word, the Bible give you comfort now and strong hope for the future. Deepest sympathy.

Dear Ruth and Family.
You have been in our thoughts and prayers so many times since the accident. Alice and I have been watching for the obituary and are pleased to see so many things about Gerald's life printed here. He certainly lived a productive life. How we rejoice that he dedicated his life to serving the Lord in so many ways. We do care about you and will be praying for your adjustment to what the Lord has for you in these coming days.
We recognize the close relationships between the Baxter and the Wirt families.
Cordially in Christ, Wayne and Alice Huff

I had the pleasure of working with Gerald in the mechanic shop at KDOT for over 3 years. I couldn’t have picked a better guy to work with. Gerald and I had a lot in common as we both attended the same technical school years apart as he had a lot more years experience under him then I. We both had previously worked for Implment dealers. We had a good time teasing one another on which brand was better Case vs John Deere. Gerald and I would often travel to the other sub-areas as duties called. I always enjoyed a nice conversation about who knows what topic we would get on or solving the worlds problems. He had a great sense of humor. My favorite memory of Gearld is that he hated working on the Sterling trucks so I would tease him about how much he “loved” working on them. He would hold up the first three fingers on his hand and say read between the lines buddy with a smile from ear to ear. One year for Christmas I gave Gerald a Sterling hat as a joke. When I left KDOT he regifted the hat to me and had my name embroidered on it. Whenever I stumble on to the hat it always makes me smile and think of the great experience I had working with Gearld. My deepest sympathy to and my heart aches for the Baxter family.
