Obituary of Mark Ruthstrom
Mark Edward Ruthstrom, age 73 of Manhattan and formerly of Clay Center, died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.
He was born on October 14, 1945 in Manhattan to Leroy and Evelyn (Rosell) Ruthstrom and grew up in the Walsburg area. He had many great memories of his life on the farm. He attended grade school in Leonardville and graduated from Riley County High School with the class of 1963.
Mark worked as a beef nutritionist for fifty-two years. He enjoyed visiting with his customers and in turn, made many great friends. Mark’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. Mark also treasured his friendships with his old school mates and before he took ill, they met up for coffee, sharing many stories of their days growing up in Riley County, Kansas.
Mark married the love of his life and soulmate Sandra Kearn on September 12, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Sandra of the home; sons Ben (Krista) Ruthstrom, Osborne, and Jonathan (Jessica) Ruthstrom, Mankato; daughters, Amy (Gary) Feigley of Enterprise, Kristin (Ervin) Underwood of Burr Oak, Mellissa (Laine) Rundus of Manhattan and Mary Ann (Roger) Meier of Mankato; fourteen grandchildren, Alexys, Alexa, Samuel, Jacob, Roger Jr.,Trinity, Taygen, Annika, Aaron, Henry, Allison, Emma, Jonathan, and Makinzy and his sister-in-law, Lynn Ruthstrom.
Mark was preceeded in death by his parents, and his older brother, Rodney.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Final resting place will be in the Walsburg Cemetery.
