My dear, dear Stadel’s: Reggie, Wendy, Bobby, Jessica and families-
There are just no words to express my sorrow for the humongous loss in your lives. Alison was so beautiful, inside and out. She had a smile that was not only bigger than life, but when she smiled, it was as if her heart just jumped out and hugged you. I know she was fantastic educator and educational leader, but also, that many, many kids’ lives are so much better for knowing Alison. They have felt her love and compassion and sweetness. Albeit, a few may have noticed her “spunk” and encouragement also! Her death is a loss to this world and most certainly, to your family, and to her school. But what a win for heaven and the glorious place promised to us. Knowing she is in a better place, is great consolation. But the grief you all have to work through, will not be easy. A quote from the Shadowlands sums it up, “Why do we love, if losing hurts so much? Because the pain now, is part of the happiness then”. I know that you would not change anything of the past and your amazing, beautiful, kind and loving daughter. Thankfully, we have a God who will love you through this. He will wrap his loving arms around you, will be there for you when you are screaming in pain, and when laughing- remembering the great memories. (I loved someone’s quote of Alison, “suck it up buttercup!”). I plan to apply that to my life when I need it, and I will look up and thank Alison and see that beautiful smile! With much love, sympathy and lots of hugs, Greta

Dear family and friends,
I am so sorry to hear of Alison’s passing. It is a difficult challenge to lose a loved one and a fabulous teacher. Alison was firm and fair to every single student. I observed her talking one-on-one to the kiddos and sharing a smile or a high five.
I feel inept with words and saying I’m so sorry seems pale.

We, the Gordon Parks Academy family, send our condolences as you mourn the loss of Alison. We too feel your loss as we considered her our cousin and a valuable component of the work that we do daily with students. Our hearts are filled with sorrow but with a smile, we can hear her say," Suck it Up Buttercup". Know that our staff shares in your grief but in her words,"Hey Darling, it will be okay." The light is on in her Professional Development Room and we will be planting a tree in her memory on our campus so that her spirit lives on and in the words of one of our staff members, "We plan to teach our butts off because that's what Alison would have wanted." Blessings and Peace
The Gordon Parks Academy Family

I love this tribute to ALISON by her colleagues, as it brought the dear, sweet, and spunky Alison that I remember. I love that even in her absence, you all are STILL INSPIRED by her energy and commitment. Prayers for you all, as you cope with this humongous loss, of such a wonderful friend and person. May you continue to be inspired by her everyday. Alison would want and love that, no doubt. May God’s peace and assurance be with each of you. Greta Lagerberg
